Day 2 - Col de Sarenne

Well chuck an apple in my mouth and roast me up good because I am stuffed! Another classic day in the French alps where we tackled the Col de Sarrene, a 1999m peak that forms the eastern side of Alpe D'Huez. This peak was featured in last year's TdF and we can now all understand why there were a few crashes on the descent as even climbing the bugger saw some wheel spin on loose gravel seemingly laid strategically on the hair-pin bends.
We summited the climb above Alpe D'Huez and descended into the famous ski village along some rough roads but all arrived safely and filled empty fuel tanks with coffee and muffins.
We were lucky enough to get another crack at descending part of Alpe D'Huez before turning right and sampling another descent captured in a Speilberg-like manner by Brycey on his GoPro. This showed off his prowess as he descended like a stone and leaving the rest of us in his wake.
We lunched at a cafe in the lovely village of Allemont just outside Borg de Oisans and then rode at about 50km/hr behind Dan who decided to do a good impression of a Honda 1100. The temperature had risen throughout the day and with a crystal clear stream / raging torrent forming our starboard border all the way back to Venosc the temptation was just too great to avoid having a dip. To say it was cold is, well, a significant understatement and we were out quicker than Chris Froome from this year's TdF. The day finished at the local bar again and this time we saw Hammo getting his ass sprayed with air-freshener. Although, when the Pascal (our very friendly publican) saw Dydey moving towards the toilet he was clearly worried about the consequences. I finish this blog as the rest have retired for the evening readying themselves for a shorter (hopefully flatter) day of pedal-pushing tomorrow followed by a visit to a Borg de Oisans - let's see what material tomorrow's activities will bring.
